The hobby of stamp collecting had grown in the Chattanooga area such that it was felt an organization of this type was in order. Word was sent out to all known collectors to be present.” Those are the words of Bob Millard, News Editor in 1970 when he memorialized the history of the Club. Over the years there have been many changes, but the stated purpose of our Club today is very much as it was in the beginning, ‘…to encourage and promote the hobby of stamp collecting, to assist its members in the acquiring and disposing of stamps, and to promote sociability among its members’. Today as in the past our membership is wide and varied in experience, and collecting interests. Our meetings are always fun, with auctions, picnics and parties mixed with some of the more serious aspects of our hobby. We learn from each other as well as from outside our membership. Our program is varied throughout the year. January through April, and again in July through October, our club features diverse presentations. April is our one-page Exhibit presentation month. Auctions are held on our May and November dates, and June and December are our club summer picnic and Holiday potluck dinner dates respectively. Visitors are always welcome. |
