The Holston Stamp Club serves the counties of Sullivan, Washington, Greene, Hawkins, Carter, and Unicoi in Northeast Tennessee and Washington County in Southwest Virginia and the bulk of the membership comes from the cities of Kingsport, Johnson City and Bristol. We currently have members as far south as Greeneville, TN and as far North as Abingdon, VA. The purpose of the club is to provide a friendly environment for stamp collectors to obtain education about philately and improve their collections by exchanging information and philatelic material. The club publishes a monthly newsletter which is available both by mail (black & white) and email (Color). Dues for Regular Membership are ten ($10) dollars per year. Members willing to accept the monthly club newsletter by email and forego a mailed copy will have their dues reduced to seven ($7) dollars per year. Dues for Associate Membership (< 18 years of age) are five ($5) dollars per year. The membership of the Holston Stamp Club is currently thirty two members. Meetings are the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM in the Main Library, basement, at Northeast State Community College which is at 2425 TN Hwy 75, Blountville, TN 37617. Meetings typically consist of a short business session, followed by a program presented by a member or guest. Every meeting has an auction which makes it possible for members to purchase a wide variety of stamps. Members are encouraged to bring Philatelic materials they wish to part with to the meetings for others to acquire. At the club meetings, members exchange items, information on stamps, discuss collecting ideas and the programs that are presented at the meetings. The fifth Thursday meetings are bourses with no business session. Interested persons are always welcome to attend the meetings and apply for membership. The Club has an annual show called HOLPEX which is on the second Saturday and Sunday in May of each year. Current officers are: Steve Schmidt, President; Don Ashley, Vice-president; Dick Jackson, Treasurer; Pat Koppel, Secretary. Pat Koppel is the editor of the newsletter.
