Club History:  Founded in 1980 as the Expo City Stamp Club, in honor of the 1982 Knoxville World’s Fair, the club became the Knoxville Stamp Club in 1983 and the Knoxville Philatelic Society in 1994.

KPS members range from the new collector to the experienced exhibitor, and collecting interests cover the world from classic issues of the 19th century to the latest new issues. Members are eager to share their experiences and enthusiasm for our hobby, and some programs are designed to assist new collectors, young and old. Membership in the KPS is open to all interested collectors worldwide.

KPS meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at various locations in the Knoxville.  Meetings begin at 6:00 pm with Sell - Buy - Trade.  Club stamps and individuals sell and trade during the hour before the regular meeting which begins at 7:00 pm.  The regular meeting of the KPS begins with business followed by a program presented by a KPS member on an interesting aspect of philately. Following the regular meeting members are back to the Sell - Buy - Trade of stamps, covers and postcards until 9:00 pm.  The KPS Executive Board meets quarterly at 6:00 pm prior to regular meetings.

KPS members receive Zoom connection information via email prior to each regular meeting.

For Stamp Collecting Month the October meeting is a live auction, usually featuring more than 100 lots sold by KPS members.

Special KPS meetings are held when a month has a 5th Tuesday. Quarterly, daytime Saturday meetings are held at locations around Knoxville. The 5th Tuesday and Saturday meetings are devoted exclusively to Buy - Sell - Trade of stamps, covers and postcards. Searching through the KPS owned stamps, covers and postcard inventory and members selling and trading with other members are among the activities at 5th Tuesday and Saturday meetings.

KPS members receive the monthly newsletter, KPS News. This award winning publication, which has earned a Gold Award from the American Philatelic Society each year since 2006.  In addition to the newsletter the KPS is on Facebook and also has a Large Gold Award website at www.knoxstamps.com.

Each year, KPS hosts KnoxPEx – its annual philatelic exhibition. Held the first weekend in March, KnoxPEx features a program to assist youth and new collectors, a bourse of approximately 13 dealers, a show cachet and commemorative cancel, competitive exhibits, and a live auction. Admission and parking are free. KPS members may enter lots in the live auction, which is held Saturday evening during the show.
