Americover Frequently Asked Questions
What is Americover? Americover is the annual show and convention of the American First Day Cover Society, and its celebration of FDC collecting. It is an APS World Series of Philately show that tours the country to different cities each year.
What activities can I expect to see at Americover? Americover features all the attributes of a national stamp show, including 160 frames of exhibits of First Day Cover material, 20+ dealers selling stamps and covers, presentations, the outstanding Stamp Explorers youth area, and the best Cachetmakers' Bourse of the year.
What if I don't collect First Day Covers? Americover features dealers selling stamps and covers. Some sell both, others just stamps or covers. You will definitely see national stamp dealers at Americover. We will publish the list of dealers later in the summer.
How is Americover related to the Southeastern Stamp Expo? The shows are two different entities run by two different organizations. Americover is held in August each year, and will be held in Peachtree Corners this year in the same hotel that hosts the Southeastern Stamp Expo. Since Americover 2018 will be such a fantastic event for philatelists in the Southeast, the Southeast Federation of Stamp Clubs (host of this website) is assisting in the marketing and logistics of the show.
How can I get more information? The American First Day Cover Society hosts a page on Americover that you can view. It is updated regularly as more information about the show is announced. For those of you who use this site (sefsc.org) as your information portal for everything related to stamp collecting in the Southeast, we will attempt to duplicate that content here for your convenience.
Can I stay in the hotel? Of course you can. The AFDCS webpage on Americover is the best place to obtain hotel information and make your booking. The rate is $99 per night, and that includes two free buffet breakfasts each morning.
How is Americover different from other national shows? Apart from touring the country to different cities, and hosting an exhibition exclusively devoted to First Day Cover material, Americover has some special attributes. The main difference is that you will see more dealers of First Day Cover material at Americover than you will at most shows. Secondly, the Cachetmakers' Bourse is always the largest in the country. There are many cachetmakers who only attend Americover and no other shows. Further, Americover hosts the annual Cachet awards, where the best cacheted First Day Covers and Event Covers of the previous year are recognized. No other show features this event.
Who can I contact with more questions? You may write us here at sestampexpo@gmail.com, however, the organizers of the show may be a more direct route. You can contact them at showinfo@afdcs.org.
