ESPER Regional Meeting 2015, Southeastern Stamp Expo
In 2015, the Ebony Society for Philatelic Events and Reflections (ESPER) held a regional meeting at the SESE. ESPER embellished our show in a number of ways, including making available a two frame exhibit on the Black Heritage Series of stamps, and furnishing the show with two wonderful speakers. John Allen spoke on "Hidden History in Black America" and Donald West spoke on "African Americans and the Civil War." Donald is an educator and Civil War re-enactor, and gave his presentation in a Civil War Union Army uniform, to pay tribute to the Massachusetts 54th division, the African army regiment featured in the movie Glory. Dr. Allen actually did triple duty, because along with his presentation he also judged at the show and brought his superb one-frame exhibit "The US 3 Cent Liberty Postal Card of 1954" which was our show's Court of Honor exhibit.
ESPER members were also guests of the show on the Saturday evening for a reception held in the Hilton's hospitality suite. We hope they come back every year!
