Southeastern Stamp Expo 2022
Southeast Federation of Stamp Clubs Announces Rowland Hill Award Winners
The Board of Directors of the Southeast Federation of Stamp Clubs has announced the winners of both its 2021 and 2022 Rowland Hill Awards. The Rowland Hill Award is presented annually to a philatelist who has made an outstanding lifetime contribution to stamp collecting. The 2021 Award was deferred until now due to the cancellation of the 2021 Southeastern Stamp Expo.
For 2021, the Board proudly honors Dr. Esper G. Hayes, founder of the Ebony Society of Philatelic Events and Reflections. Dr. Hayes worked tirelessly to increase the amount of diversity in the stamp collecting hobby. She passed away in 2019, and was inducted into the APS Hall of Fame in 2021.
For 2022, the Board will honor Richard F. "Dick" Winter of North Carolina. Winter is one of the foremost authorities on North Atlantic Mail and Maritime Mail. He is also a past-president of the United States Philatelic Classics Society and the North Carolina Postal History Society. He is a Luff award winner, and has signed the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists.
